4. Rushed to the Altar, by Jane Feather

The first installment in what will be The Blackwater Brides trilogy, Jane Feather has woven a rather improper Georgian novel. Here, Jasper Sullivan, Earl of Blackwater, is in search of a wretched woman. His hope is to turn her life around then make her his wife, so that he may inherit part of his uncle’s vast fortune. A series of misadventures leads Jasper to believe that the innocent and virginal Clarissa Astley is actually a prostitute, and out of the hopes of finding her brother Clarissa plays along. 5. Married By Morning, by Lisa Kleypas

David Nicholls’ latest is already in the works for a major motion picture. Here, we meet Dexter and Emma, and we follow them for a single day once a year for 20 years. Dexter’s life as a TV announcer slowly unravels under the haze of drugs, alcohol and sex, while Emma’s slowly improves.
